Peoples memories are short. Over at Autoblog, Damon Lavrinc posed the question of “Whats your vehicle of the Decade ?”. Its been a pretty popular post with 412 comments thus far. People range from the Bugatti, to the Prius, to the ZR1 and the GT-R. .
So it’s my car of the decade because it redefines the idea of a supercar; it doesn’t have to be massively expensive (okay, I can’t afford a new one either, but it’s a lot less than a 911 Turbo and considerably more exclusive) to offer ballistic performance in a full-size bodyshell that makes people stare and small boys point.
Nitrobahn picked their top 10 Supercars of 2009, and along with the $400,000 2010 Lexus LFA , 2010 Lamborghini Reventon Roadster,Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss , 2009 Bertone Mantide , Aston Martin One-77 , Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 SuperVeloce , Ferrari 458 Italia , Mercedes Benz SLS AMG , and McLaren MP4-12C , they picked the 2009 Nissan GT-R SpecV.
Are you surprised to see a car from Nissan in this top 10 list? The powerful GT-R has now acquired the one thing it needed to hold its head high in the super car league – a six-figure price tag.
Carfront.com put up its best 10 cars of the Decade, and they put the Nissan GT-R at #8 .
Autotrader UK also picked their car of the Decade. Their list was 20 deep with the top spot occupied by the Bugatti Veyron, however the #2 pick might be surprising to some, but not as much of surprise if I am mentioning it here.
The GT-R is the world's hardest, fastest and most technologically advanced car Nissan has ever produced and has given a bloody nose to every single one of the world's supercars - all for just £52,995.
Most notably, it gave the Porsche 911 Turbo - a £100,000 elite supercar - a thrashing around the Nurburgring.
And finally, at least for this installment, Evo is picking their car of the decade. The nominee for 2008 was the Nissan GT-R, and now the voting is passing over to the forum members. Right now the GT-R is leading.
