1998 Pikes Peak Hill Climb Nissan Skyline GT-R NISMO 400R

Saw these cool pictures and video came up on Facebook and I wanted to share them.  BEST ran a yellow R33, 400R at Pikes Peak in 1998. Its funny, I don't think we even really knew about this in 1999, when MotoRex ran an R33 at Pikes Peak with Rhys Millen and UPRD.

Check out the video of the run. Sounds kind of angry. for Nissan Skyline GT-R and GT-R parts.

1965 Datsun Pickup

I saw this pickup listed in Hemmings, and clicked though to check it out a little more. Here are a couple of odd things about it. Its listed by a private seller in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

"1965 Datsun “one off” Extended cab pick up truck, near perfect in every way! 46.917 miles from new. Cab is extended 7” and this show truck needs nothing!

Price: $21,995 obo "

They may have just bought the truck and are looking to flip it, but you would think they would at least use their own picture. The truck in the picture, dated last month has a California plate, and judging by the palm trees, and the rest of the background, I would say this looks like the truck is in California.   Then onto the truck itself. It says its a one off with a 7 inch extended cab. Generally the more original something is, the more money its worth. It is definitely one of those buyer beware kind of listings. It would need some more explanation to me before I got serious on it.  Just one of those curious things, there may be perfectly reasonable reasons, but it screams caution to me. for Nissan Skyline GT-R and GT-R parts.

Nissan Skyline R31 Promotional video

Saw this pop up from Pistonheads. This is a promotional video for the 1986 R31 Nissan Skyline. Check it out in all its mid 1980's glory. These cars are over 25 years old, so if you fancy a blast from the past, there are legal ways to import them. For more information about 25 year old vehicle importation, check out MotoIQ.

The R31 Skyline of 1986 was a natural evolution on the R30 shape, and also this one was loosely based on the Laurel platform (C32). The design was slightly larger and squarer than previous Skylines. It was available as a Sedan, Hardtop sedan, Coupe and station wagon. Affectionately known as the "Seventhsu" or simply "7th Sukairain" by owners, due to it being the 7th generation Skyline.
The R31 Skyline introduced many new technologies and features. The HR31 was the first Skyline to be equipped with the new RB-series of engines. The R31 RB engines are often referred to as "Red Top" engines because of the red cam covers. There were three variants. The earliest series of DOHC RB engines used the NICS (Nissan Induction Control System) injection system with 12 very small intake runners, and a butterfly system to divide the intake ports in half for better low RPM performance. Later versions used ECCS (Electronically Concentrated Control System) engine management, discarded the twelve tiny runners for six much larger ones (though they retained twelve ports on the head, so there was a splitter plate), and received a slightly larger turbocharger. Nissan's RD28, a 2.8 straight-6 engine, featured for a diesel option. Another technological first for the R31 was the introduction of Nissan's proprietary 4-wheel steering system, dubbed HICAS (High Capacity Active Steering). The R31 series were also the only models in the Skyline family to feature a 4-door hardtop variation. These models were generally badged as the Passage GT.
The R31 Skyline was also produced in Australia, with a 3.0 L motor (RB30E) available in sedan or wagon form, as well as a four-cylinder version called the Nissan Pintara. The wagon had the same front style as the coupe and sedan—the only difference being that it lacked the four round brake lights that had been a consistent element of Skyline design (except for the R31 series one/two which had rectangular taillights with a solid bar through the centre which was also shared by the Pintara). These cars were manufactured in Australia due to the heavy import laws which made it expensive to bring cars into Australia.
29,305 R31 Skylines were also manufactured and sold in South Africa in 4-door sedan form between 1987 and 1992. These were the last Skylines seen in South Africa. Power came from either the RB30E 3.0 straight-6 motor, RB20E 2.0 straight-6 motor for Nissan Skyline GT-R and GT-R parts.

Four Door Autech R33 GT-R 40th Anniversary

R33's are not my favorite of the GT-R's, and four doors are always weird, but this yellow, Autech R33, with 400R parts looks pretty good. Yellow with white wheels, kind of a reverse egg yolk.  This car is a 1998, so still a long way from coming to the US.  RB26 powered, all wheel drive. 5 speed manual transmission. Supposedly there were 405 of these 40th anniversary cars made in 1997 and 1998.

Check out the original Autech 4 door sales brochure.

Nissan and NISMO IDx Concept Car

Nissan IDx Concept Car
Check out the Nissan IDx concept car. Is this the S16?

Many of the group of co-creators who were involved with IDx NISMO are people who grew up playing racing simulation games that feature cars of the past and from all corners of the globe. They had a natural desire to realize that virtual driving experience in a real car of their own.

Not limited to being inspired just by racing cars, IDx NISMO was born from a refined combination of the freedom to borrow liberally from memorable vehicles of yesteryear and the present, in addition to whatever was felt exudes “cool."

The IDx NISMO's co-creation dialogue took the distilled heritage of Nissan's basic box-shaped racing vehicles of the past and married it with various intriguing new details. This resulted in a car that appears to be timeless and moored in a place all its own.

Though IDx NISMO shares the overall length and height of its Freeflow cousin, the 1.8 meter width of the car is testament to its low, wide stance that emphasizes its sporty proportions.

One of the hallmarks of box-type racecars is speediness conveyed by a reverse-slanted nose. On IDx NISMO, this frontal design element is embellished by an aura of seriousness communicated by the use of carbon panels. Side mufflers provide a pleasing exhaust note. The car also has contemporary touches such as front/rear and right/left aerodynamic spoilers and lightweight 225/40 19-inch tires.

To meet the high expectations for a powertrain equal to the task of propelling such a formidable car, one proposal from Nissan's engineers is the combination of a high-performance, eco-friendly 1.6L direct-injection turbocharged engine together with a sporty CVT with 6-speed manual shift mode and synchronized rev control. The result is no less than an appealing mix of racing heritage with the finest of modern know-how.

Scanning the interior reveals racing-inspired crimson alcantra seat covers that entice the eyes, complemented by Spartan-looking meters and gauges that animate the race-car ambience. The lustrous metal surfaces contrast nicely with the bright red suede trim that is augmented by blue stitching.

This machine's soul-stirring design echoes the racing car imagery of the past united with the buzz digital natives get from the virtual world they know well.

That this car could result from co-creation dialogue alone exemplifies Nissan's fresh approach to contemplating car design, and even kindles a fire in the hearts of people fond of the good old days of high-performance cars. for Nissan Skyline GT-R and GT-R parts.

Shift S3ctor 1/2 Mile Racing October 6

GT-R's from SP Engineering

This last weekend was a big event for the Shift S3ctor organization at the Coalinga Municipal Airport. Ton's of 1000+ horsepower cars showed up, and went for the highest trap speed, plus some side by side roll racing. Highest mph of the weekend was 224.99 by a Underground Racing Lamborghini Gallardo.  There was a good amount of attrition in the GT-R and Lamborghini camp. Quickest GT-R went 215 mph if my information is right.
224.99 mph. The fastest GT-R ran 215 mph on Saturday
It says 1200 hp on the window, but someone mentioned more like 1800 hp at 40 psi.
Check out the pictures, and I will get some more videos up over the next week.
