400 Titles of Illegally Imported Skylines Revoked in Florida

What have I always said about Florida and Skylines? Nothing good comes out of there. Especially when it comes to Skylines and questionable titles. The rumors are 400 titles were revoked in this latest wave of "never going to happen, had this car for years"

This guy didn't get screwed by the government, the guy that imported and sold it to him, did that. Back in 2014 I posted about forged documents from Soho Imports on a S15. These guys have been doing it a long time. I have been calling Florida out for a long time.

To Whom It May Concern:

The Florida Highway Patrol's Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence concluded an investigation resulting in approximately four hundred(400) vehicle titles being cancelled/revoked in Florida. The investigation primarily involved the businesses "Soho Alliance LLC" , "Soho Imports LLC" , and "J-Spec Garage LLC" (amongst others). The investigations primary focus was on the fraudulent applications for titles in the state of Florida.

The Florida Highway Patrol, under the Division of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, is limited to the jurisdiction of Florida and enforcing Florida State Statutes. The investigation identified fraudulent applications for Florida titles, with supporting vehicle importation documents. The United State Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection division, maintains records based on federal laws and agency polices. The Florida Highway Patrol does not have access to importation records, nor the ability to authenticate importation documents.

Subsequently, all vehicles identified in this investigation that have obtained fraudulent Florida titles will be ineligible for titling in Florida, regardless of any corrective measures taken. Furthermore, the United States Department of Homeland Security has notified the Florida Highway Patrol that all vehicles in this investigation, that have had a Florida title cancelled/revoked, have been placed on a contraband list and would be ineligible for a title/registration in any state. The Florida Highway Patrol does not maintain record of this list, nor have the ability to alter/update/modify/ect. the list.

Some options available may include: exporting the vehicle out of the country; maintaining the vehicle as property in non-operating status: or surrendering the vehicle to the nearest Port of Entry where it will be seized as contraband by the Department of Homeland Security. The Florida Highway Patrol, nor the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, regulate the exporting of vehicles. Please contact the United States Customs and Border Protection at the Port of Entry nearest you for instructions on exporting the vehicle if you chose this method.

So what's it all mean? My personal take on this is the Florida did its part, and they are done. However there is a chance that Customs/ICE isn't done. If you take one of these cars to the port to export, it will probably be seized. Not saying it will for sure happen, but I for sure would not take it there without consulting with a lawyer like:

To me the word "may" is very important. It means hey we don't know for sure. I need to look up the Florida definition of non-operating status. Or you surrender it, and they sell it off.

I know a lot about vehicle import, but I am not a lawyer.
