LMGT1 Wheels, TE37, Group A Centerlocks and R35 GT-R Brakes

18 x 10.5 +22 TE37 with Toyo 285/650/18 slicks on the #gtrhunter

We have been working on the Autech Stagea 260RS for R's Day recently.  We already have a lot of different parts that we have accumulated through the years of working on Nissan Skyline GT-R.  If you aren't familiar with the Stagea 260RS, its a special version of the Stagea wagon. Like a lot of Nissans its sort of a hodgepodge of parts bin things. In this case, a pretty special parts bin.  In this case the drivetrain is mostly R33 GT-R. That means ATTESA, Hicas, 5 speed manual, and RB26dett

1734 Stagea 260RS were made from November 1997 to March 2001.  GT-R Registry has more information about 260RS colors and production numbers.

The 10.5 +22 are too wide in the rear to clear the shock. They make contact. A lower offset would be ok, but in the +5 range or so. Then you push out past the fender.

380 mm R35 brake rotors and calipers with Supertec bracket

The R35 had some of the best OEM Brembo brake calipers that I had seen back in 2008/2009. 6 piston, cooling channels in the pistons. 380 mm rotors, 2 piece hats. The R35 was heavy, and fast, and needed all that brake. The OEM cross drilled rotors suck, as they always crack. I think that brake dust gets trapped in the holes when hot. When the rotor cools, that packed brake dust starts micro cracks eventually. Heat and dust over time work to crack them. When I worked at STILLEN, I sold a lot of AP J hook rotors, and quiet a few sets of CCM rotors.

OEM Brembo brakes 324 mm rotor inside LMGT1 barrel
The plan was to run the R35 brakes with the LMGT1 wheels. However the shape of the LMGT1 barrel makes that impossible. Since we had a Group A centerlock wheel, we tried that over the R35 brakes, and that does clear as the barrel is straight vs tapered.   One other option shown to us by Supertec was to machine the conversion bracket down slightly.

  • Std Brembo R32/R33/R34 rotors are 324 x 30 mm front
  • Std Brembo R32/R33/R34 rotors are 300 x 22 mm rear
  • Vspec N1 Brembo R34 rotors are 322 x 22 mm rear

Group A Centerlock over R35 GT-R brakes

Group A centerlock barrel is straight, not tapered like the LMGT1. So this is why they clear

LMGT1 barrel is tapered, this is why they do not clear the 380 mm brakes
