Nasty Fuel Pump Carrier and Tank R32 GT-R

R32 GT-R Fuel pump carrier. This one looks nasty

The R32 GT-R has a plastic fuel tank. They don't fail much, but I have seen a few cracked ones over the years. Normally if they leak when you fill them all the way up, its because the vent hoses on the top are perished. The R32 GTS variants had a metal tank, that does rust more often.   With the first R32 GT-R being .....

2025-1989 = 36 years old, which is ancient in car terms.

More like dog years than human years, we do have lots of parts that time/age out. Depending on how they were serviced and maintained.  If a car is stored a long time, I personally think its best to keep the gas tank full. I would prefer "bad" gas than air in the tank rusting everything inside.

Metal lines in tank have corrosion, as does the level sensor
Terminals look like crap too. Something may be growing there.

Everything doesn't look that happy. This is why we keep and buy used senders to replace things like this.

There are aftermarket hats and fuel pump carriers from several vendors.
