Odometers, Mileage Fraud, and R32 GT-R

Nismo white face 200 mph.  Made by Speedo Conversion Solutions

If you have paid attention to my buyers guides you would know that mileage, and speedometer cluster swaps in Nissan Skyline GT-R are very common. People didn't do it to defraud anyone in 1991, or 1995, or 1999. They did it so they had a speedo that read higher than 180 km/hr (112 mph).  Nismo 260 km/hr, Nismo 320 km/hr, white face, tons of other brands all existed. Just about all the tuners did their own cluster.

So here is your warning again. If your R32 has anything other than a 180 km/hr speedo, its been swapped. Even if it has a 180 km/hr speedo and someone is trying to pass the car off as low KM, then they have to have documentation. Since people live and die by mileage, its very easy for someone unscrupulous to change speedometer clusters. Its a 20 minute job.

When you try and make some bold claims, you should do some research. When those claims are challenged, don't use an article written by a journalist as proof that something came that way. Anyone can write an article online. Very little to no qualifications are required.

From GT-R Registry showing options. Australia got a 260 km/hr speedo. The Nismo a 180 km/hr

The Nismo R32 GT-R came with 180 km/hr speedometers. It was popular to swap them out to 260 km/hr in that era. However without documentation done at a dealer, true miles are unknown. Making claims about mileage are all totally invalid, because the documentation doesn't exist. If it does, then great. We have low km car, we have tons of cars with swapped clusters. Some have documentation, some don't and are TMU (true miles unknown).

Should it be set to 846 km, to then be the lowest KM Nismo this week?
