Craig Lieberman : Fast and Furious : T- Shirts

Tee shirts from Craig Lieberman : Fast and Furious Technical Advisor

Our 2nd or 3rd favorite technical advisor from the Fast and Furious movies, Craig Lieberman, has some new tee shirts.  Everyone needs a tee shirt or 12.  Bonus, I am quoted on one of the shirts.

More than you can afford, Pal tee shirt from The Fast Life

whiner - a person given to excessive complaints and crying and whining. grumbler, moaner, sniveller, squawker, bellyacher, complainer, crybaby. disagreeable person, unpleasant person - a person who is not pleasant or agreeable. kvetch - (Yiddish) a constant complainer.

The context of the shirt are people complaining about the prices of cars. Like real estate, groceries, and stocks, prices rise over time. In the case of things under high demand and limited supply, you have to be willing to pay more than the next guy if you want something.  With the current prices for JDM, and desirable Japanese cars, we hear a lot of complaining about the prices from people that didn't have the money to pay for the cars when they were at their lowest price point.  So the whiners never buy, the buyers never whine about pricing.  Yes you should have got in on Amazon at the IPO, you should have HODL that Bitcoin and not bought a pizza with it.

How We Chose the Cars for Fast and Furious

R34 in Fast and Furious 4. This is an actual GT-R hero car.
The Fast and The Furious: How We Chose the Cars

For more info, car specs, stories and information, go to my website http://www.fastandfuriousfacts.com
This video covers how we chose the cars for the first "Fast and Furious" movie which was produced in the year 2000.
It's important to understand what cars were available at the time, what kind of budget Universal had and the fact that this movie was a first in the series and as such, companies who provided parts and support were taking a giant leap of faith.

Sickest R34 Nissan Skyline Ever

Sick as in the head. Yes. This car is not quiet right. It was a stunt car built for the Fast and Furious 4.

Yes its VW powered. It is an R34 body, put onto a VW chassis. It ran and drove ok, a little strange.  Movies do some odd things, this is one of those odd things.

Some more behind the scenes pictures - Fast and Furious 4

Fast and Furious 4 R34 GT-R and Paul Walker
A buck is a part of a car that the production companies use to film interior car scenes.  In the case of Fast and Furious 4, I was a technical advisor for the insert unit. This mostly entailed doing hands and feet. Pretending to shift. Pretending to mash the throttle, jam on the brakes. Kick the clutch.  Spent about a week doing it.  Was a fun time.  Sorry all shot with an old phone, in the olden days of digital photography. Sorry no iPhone X, more like Treo 650.

Nissan Skyline R34 Buggy Car Video

Nissan Skyline R34 Buggy Car.

Fast and Furious built and destroyed a lot of cars. Every main character car, depending on how it is used, is copied three to six times or more. Some are setup for just one particular scene.  This particular R34 GT, was dressed up to look like the hero R34 GT-R for Fast and Furious 4. The fourth movie saw the return of Paul Walker, and the blue R34 GT-R was a car he drove in one race scene.  In the scene, he gets off track, and has to drive down a freeway embankment.  Seeing as a Skyline is not really an off road car, the picture car department built a "Buggy Car."  They removed the entire driveline from one of the stunt cars, and put it all over the top of a VW chassis.

From our friends on set, they said they did the embankment with one of the other stunt cars, and didn't even use the buggy car.

For Fast and Furious 4, we did some technical advising for the insert unit. We called it hands and feet. Is always a cool and fun time to work on movies/tv. Lots of work, long hours, but fun.  Import Tuner Coverage of Fast and Furious

Nissan Skyline Stolen from Sun Valley

This couldn't have happened to a "nicer" guy. My guess is that someone he screwed in the past got back at him stealing this car.

KCBS news Its not a GT-R, and its not the hero car. Its just a GTS. One of the stunt cars for Fast and Furious 4. Probably not even in the US legally. It was one of the cars that should have been exported out of the US.

Fast and Furious 4 : The Bridge Trailer

One scene I got to see about 40 times during the filming. No amount of complaining would bring a GT-R dash for the GTS one.... they had it rigged to move prior to me showing up. Its all good. Still looks pretty decent. I know what happens right after... I know who wins... who do you think wins ?

The Cars of Fast and Furious

Jalopnik went on set of Fast and Furious 4 and checked out some of the movie cars.
After watching the Grand National abuse in pre-film teasers we're happy to report they did not, in fact, destroy any real GNXs. These cars are merely clones. As you can see in the photos above, there are multiples of most of the character cars. This includes the Brian's R34 Skyline GT-R, which has a 240SX-based clone seen next to the GT in the gallery. Why accidentally destroy a real R34 when you can destroy a fake one?

Fast and Furious 4 Releasing April 2009

Fast and Furious four's release date has been moved forward a few months according to Edmunds Inside Line.

That's right; instead of having to wait all the way until June in order to see the reunion of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster in a bunch of high-performance cars, you'll be able to get your fix in April. Not even late April, but April 3 when the film — simply entitled Fast & Furious — shows up in every Cineplex ever built.

Word is that there will be some last-minute reshoots for the film next week for the purpose of shoehorning Tyrese Gibson's character Roman Pearce from the second film (2 Fast 2 Furious) into the new one.

Look carefully, you might see my hands and feet. Carefully.

Mines R35 GT-R FNF4

Just as I was sitting down to eat my wonderful Bakers lunch/dinner tonight, I got a call from one of the guys I know on Fast and Furious 4. They had an R34 GT-R that was having some issues starting. He asked if I could come quick to have a look at the car since the movie can't afford to have cars not to working correctly. I finished off my dinner and hit the road. About two minutes into the drive I got another call , "Bring your laptop".

Well thats not good. My laptop is in Long Beach. The Grid Datascan cable is in City of Industry. Not really on the way. My guy said: "I told them you would be there in about 45 minutes."

No way to get the laptop, the cable and make it to downtown in under about two hours. Forget the laptop, I will just go and check the car out. About 50 minutes later I was parked in the parking structure under the driving range in K-Town.

When I got to the level where they were filming, one of the first cars I noticed was the Mines R35 GT-R. I went and found a couple of the picture car guys. Had a quick look at the car. Nothing too major wrong with the R34. I hung around for a few minutes. Took a quick snap of the Mines R35 with the wonderful Treo at 2x for fine pixelization, and left for home.

Fast and Furious 4 . The Quattro FNF4

Fast and Furious 4. I bet you can't wait to see it. I have been hearing the rumors, seen the stories (like this months Sport Compact Car about it. Supposedly Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are back for the fourth installment.

Sport Compact Car says the action is going to take place in the US and Mexico. Of course in the Fast and Furious movies , the cars are the stars , so what are they saying about the stars ? Either a 1987 Buick GNX , 1969 Chevy Camaro for Vin. They say a 2009 GT-R is an obvious choice for Paul Walker. By a well educated guess, I don't see the GNX making it, Its not a V8, no turbo 6 Buick GNX for those guys. As far as a new GT-R , I don't think they have anything setup yet, although there are rumors that the production has looked at a number of R34's.
