SpecM Nissan GT-R at Nurburgring

Nissan has been using the Nurburgring to tune its vehicles for several decades. The R35 GT-R’s second home has become Nurburgring.  These videos show a disguised 2011 Japan Spec M undergoing testing.  The Spec M has several pieces from the Spec V, the brake ducts in the front lip, the wheels. The suspension is supposed to be softer and closer to a Spec “Man”, not a boy racer model.  Expect to see interior upgrades, and a pretty hefty price tag.  Not likely to show up in the US, and with the current Japanese GT-R market, we will have to see how it will sell there.

Jeremy Boddy and Used JDM : Still Trying To Scam You

 Jeremy Boddy

Jeremy Boddy is at it again. Changing names and websites. Now on Trade Car View, as of July 21, 2010 they put up this notice of unrelated/unauthorized website.

Jeremy  Boddy has gone from Drift Tuners to JDM Experts to Used JDM, and who knows how many names before and after.

His MO is to put up websites, offer importing services. Collect $2,000- $3,000 from people to find and import a car.  Then he disappears. He uses multiple names, multiple accounts, and even gives himself referrals on forums.  He has been found out on Freshalloy, Nico, and lots of other internet forums.

The guy is total scum.  I don’t know how much money he owes people, but over the years I have been contacted by a number of people.

Nissan Skyline GT-R vs GT-R and ZR1 vs GT-R

First run: Nissan Skyline R34 Altechno (900HP) vs Nissan GT-R R35 R850 Juster (850 HP)
Second run: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 LPE (730 HP) vs Nissan GT-R R35 HKS GT570 (570 Hp)

Notice the R34 is left hand drive, Motec dash, and runs a sequential transmission?(looks lke a 5 speed dogbox in the video below).  This looks like the same R34 GT-R beating a Veyron in a 1 mile race. The race doesn’t start until 3 minutes in. A couple line ups, dry hops, and a turn around or two in there.

400mm Carbon Ceramic Matrix Brakes for Skyline GT-R’s

R35 6 piston calipers, with 380 mm rotors. Under a TE37 on an R32 GT-R. This is the good life.

Add this..
And then you will have about the most exotic, lightest road course, most expensive brake setup that would fit on a Nissan Skyline GT-R.

Toronto World Challenge Race

Canada, again for the DG-Spec World Challenge Scion team.   Once again we were racing with IRL, for the 2nd time this season north of the border.  Another red eye flight from LA for Johnny, Dan, and myself, found us getting to the hotel around 8 am on Thursday.  We decided to leave the hotel at around noon, to head to the track and meet up with Brad and Dave.  The only thing we had going on Thursday, besides Media rides in the afternoon, was to prepare the cars.  Brad had taken care of most of the prep work in Ohio, but there were still a few more things to work on.

Some adult beverages at the airport prior to the redeye. Johnny checks out his Blackberry.
Toronto 012
Gardiner moving slowly, maybe the sign was trying to tell us something about the weekend.
Toronto 013
A few boxes of parts that were shipped in from LA.  How do they end up with so much damage?
 Toronto 015
Brad at the driver/crew chief meeting.  The entire World Challenge paddock was within the convention center.  A/C was a plus, pushing the cars outside to put fuel and start them was a minus.  I still feel like I am pushing a car around.

Robert in the #18 Scion, during the media test day.  Just in front of him the K-Pax / 3R Volvo. Robert got a chance to run a few extra laps, and get familiar with the track. After the media ride, we had to pull the passenger seat and belts, and put 90 lbs of Rewards weight into the car.

Another Seized Car : R32 GT-R : Canadian Border

Why do people always think, that the law does not pertain to them? They think they are too special, or that ignorance of the law is an excuse.  Here is a perfect example.  An R32 GT-R, seized at the border by US Customs at the Canadian border.   In Canada its legal to import cars that are over 15 years old, so for the last several years, the Canadians have been getting all the cool 80’s and 90’s Japanese cars.

It was seized by US customs at the Canadian Boarder. It Cannot Be Released Without BONDED EXPORT PAPERS. Car Magazine Photo Shoot

Over the years of dealing with the Nissan Skyline GT-R, I have become friends with a lot of magazine photographers and editors.  This kind of  stuff really happens.  Just more reasons to hate “show cars”.

STILLEN Race Exhaust for Nissan GT-R

A quick video of the STILLEN Targa GT-R idling at the shop prior to it being shipped out to the Dunlop Targa event.  The race exhaust is a single exit, twin tip design that greatly reduces the weight of the exhaust system of the GT-R.

For more videos and information head over to :

STILLEN carries stock exit exhausts, mid pipes, AP J Hook brakes , AP CCM brakes, Penske Coil over suspension, upgraded 3 and 5 way adjustable sway bars, and more.

951 AWHP : Switzer R1K

Last Friday, before the 4th holiday weekend, we strapped the car on Buschur’s Mustang dyno and managed a 951awhp/804awtq run before we literally started driving through the stock clutches. I had manipulated the clutches into locking up early and aggressively. This was done so that I could make progress with the tuning on this new combination without taking the car out of action for transmission modifications while Shep and I evaluated some of the current gearboxes we have running before settling on the final specs for that part of this build.
951 awhp on a Mustang dyno is very stout.  This car should do nearly 160 mph though a 1/4 mile. Tym Switzer said that while running 30-32 psi, they were expecting to run up to about 3 bar or 43 psi of boost.

Watkins Glen World Challenge TC Weekend

Once again, another weekend of racing for myself and the DG Spec Racing team.  This fourth of July weekend format was a little different as we raced on Saturday.  Brad flew from LA to Ohio on Tuesday, met up with Jayson and they drove out to the track.   Dan, Johnny, and myself flew out of LA on Wednesday afternoon, and arrived in Ithaca around 11 pm.

The puddle jumper from Philly to Ithaca.  Turboprop. Just about an hours flight.

Three in a room.  Dave’s luxurious accommodations. I think the mattress on the floor is actually more comfortable than on the horrible roll away frame.  The roll away frame just digs though the mattress into your back.
