RB30 powered Holden VL making big power on the dyno

The Holden VL is an Australian domestic car that is a huge local favorite in Australia. Holden is a GM product, but its own brand. In the 80's and 90's there were a ton of Holdens produced with the Nissan RB30, or the 3 liter version of the RB block. This taller deck block, gives more room for activities and upgrades.

This isn’t the first time we’ve featured James’ Holden Commodore. Last time on the dyno the VL was making north of 1500hp. With a lack of racing opportunities over the past 12 months, D’Annello Performance has taken the opportunity to update the fuel system switching to a mechanical pump and a Haltech Nexus R5, an all in one data logger, PDM and complete engine management system. The same Nissan RB engine combination resides featuring Nitto internals, boosted by a Precision 8891 turbocharger backed by a Liberty Equalizer 5-speed gearbox. The guys were keen to get it back onto the dyno to test the new upgrades including the automated transmission control. The car did not disappoint.
