The Renik Equal Length Down Pipes sound incredible, first start. Saving a Skyline GT-R Vlog 3

Brians R32 GT-R

Brian gets working on his R32 GT-R.  After hearing a few cars with equal length, there really is no other frontpipe or downpipe to have for an RB26 with twin turbos.  You are doing yourself wrong if you don't have one.

Titanium Exhaust Options for R33 GT-R from Leaskspec

TitanRS Titanium exhaust for R33 GT-R. Two options

Stewart from Leaskspec is back with a couple of TitanRS exhaust options for an R33 GT-R. If you aren't the basic bitch kind of Starbucks, Uggs, and a Tomei Titanium exhaust kind of person, then this might be what you are looking for.

Option 1.

-bolts to factory downpipe (no test pipe required)
-full 1mm 3.5” titanium construction
-all slip fit connections
-all mandrel elbows
-titanium oval muffler for unique toned down sound with all the hints of RB still remaining
-maximum ground clearance (over 3.5” on my personal car)
-15.8lb total including all clamps and SS adapter from downpipe to exhaust
.
$2850 is the cost of this system. There will be a bnr32 and bnr34 example next.

Option 2

-bolts to factory downpipe (no test pipe required)
-full 1mm 3.5” titanium construction
-all slip fit connections
-all mandrel elbows
-titanium round muffler for a higher dB delivery of RB goodness
-maximum ground clearance (over 3.5” on my personal car)
-comes in lighter at 14.8lb including all clamps, the ss downpjpe adapter and the ss muffler hanger
.
$2850 is the cost of this system as well. There will be a bnr34 example of this but unfortunately nothing for the 32, only oval or straight pipe options.

Exhaust Outlets : 02 Sensor Housings : Twin Turbo RB26

OEM R32/R33 turbocharger outlet pipe ~54mm at the flange

These parts of the exhaust on a twin turbo RB26 connect the outlet of the turbo charger to the downpipe, or front pipe. Some terms are different, depending on what region you are from. Like calling a soda drink, a coke, a pop, soda, soft drink, etc.  It all generally means the same thing, just regional. On the exhaust side, post turbo, the best exhaust is none. Larger is better, less restrictive is better.  Less weight is better.

The R32 and R33 outlet pipes are cast, and the same other than the oxygen sensor threads/boss. The R32 uses a small sensor (11/16th or17mm nut), the R33 a larger sensor (7/8th or 22 mm nut).  More information about the sensor differences - https://www.gtrusablog.com/2019/02/oxygen-sensors-r32-vs-r33-o2-sensors.html

It is possible to put an R32 02 sensor into an R33 outlet with an adapter, but the opposite would be a trick.

R34 turbo outlet pipe
R34 turbo outlet pipe ~60mm at the flange

The R34 outlet pipe is a stamped formed piece of metal. It is an interesting piece. It is about 1 lb lighter than the cast pieces, and also has a larger outlet flange diameter of 60mm vs ~54mm mm on the R32/R33. Depending on exactly how you look at it, because the wall of the tube is inside the flange, you don't get the full benefit of that 60 mm flange.  Next onto aftermarket outlets.

This is a Mines outlet tube. Even lighter. This piece has been Swain coated 70 mm flange 65 mm inside

You can see on this outlet tube that the diameter of the flange is 70 mm, but because of the tubing wall, you only actually see about 65 mm of cross section.  It is still larger than the OEM by about 10 mm.

There are two different lengths of the turbo outlet pipes, so make sure you don't get them switched up.

This outlet has an R32 oxygen sensor adapter, and an EGT bung in it. This has also been Swain coated

On Nismo #500, we are running Tomei cast outlets.  The Tomei cast outlets are 68 mm

The largest ones we know about come from either HPI or Midori. The HPI are 76 mm, and the Midori are 76.3 mm.

Midori 76.3 mm outlet tubes

If you are putting aftermarket turbos on your car, you really want to replace the outlet tubes with something larger and if possible lighter.  You also want to pay attention to the front turbo outlet as it just about sits on top of the rear turbo compressor inlet.  There is a reason that the R34 Vspec II, got a NACA duct, to try and cool the rear turbo.

This engine we did a lot of heat shielding on the outlet of the front turbo, and inlet to the rear turbo. These are Nismo cast outlet pipes. HKS GT-RS turbos

This turbo outlet tube is from a Nismo R32 GT-R. It is 54 mm at the flange, but does have a small lip inside on one side.

This turbo outlet is from an R34 GT-R. It is 60 mm at the flange, but it is fairly dirty inside with the welds, plus a good lip

R34 GT-R Exhaust Outlet Pipe O2 Housing Diameter and Pictures

R34 GT-R exhaust outlet pipe. You can tell its the rear, because it has the probe for EGT

When it comes to exhaust post turbo, bigger is better. Anything post turbo is just a restriction, it negatively effects spool up, and it negatively effects power.   However, like everything in life, there are trade offs. Noise, emissions, space, and complexity all play into what exhaust you are going to run.

In the R34 GT-R, the turbo outlet pipes are a piece of folded/shaped metal vs cast pieces in the R32, and R33. The R34 pieces are lighter and slightly larger diameter.  These pieces also contain the factory oxygen sensors. The R32 uses a smaller sensor, than the R33 and R34.  Some people may call this piece the 02 housing, or oxygen sensor housing.  The front and rear housing are different. Don't get them confused, its a bad look to have to remove and reinstall the turbos because the front housing is on the rear turbo, and vice versa.

The OEM R32, and R33 piece have a 55 mm outlet size.   As seen below the R34 outlet size is about 60mm, but it has a step in the lip.

Group A R32 GT-R Exhaust

The best exhaust for a Skyline R32 GT-R.

The best turbo exhaust, is no exhaust.   Then followed closely by hood exit.  Then as short and big as you can make it.

The Group A versions of the R32 GT-R ran a side exit exhaust, that was partially ovalized and exited at the rear section of the front door.  I was surprised to see that they didn't notch the frame rail for clearance.

Releasing next week are Tomei's new cast exhaust manifolds for the RB26.  If you are running the stock twin turbos, and are replacing the stock turbos, then these might be a good idea. Some slight power improvements, but like nearly everything Tomei, quality products.
