We did help out a little with this video. We imported or help import nearly all the cars Every owner had to be willing to let Nolan drive their vehicle on track. Some cars are really hard to find in Southern California, like a real Ken & Mary "Kenmeri" GT-R. With only 197 cars total made, they are rare in the world, more rare in the US.  The first GT-R was not a 2 door, it was actually a 4 door, the 2 door came later.  However for the video, 2nd GT-R to nearly the last GT-R doesn't sound as good. Plus it gives the Otaku something to argue about, and tell Donut Media how wrong they got it.  In a perfect world, you could just snap your fingers and every make, model, and type of GT-R would just pop up, show up to a track on a SNOWY day in Southern California.  Yes, I said snow. 

And yes its Hakussss-ka, not HA-KO-SUK- KA.

Drove Brian's R32 GT-R on the BBS LM and A052 up to Willow Springs, it started snowing on the way there. 

Snow meant the Toyota jacket came out. This Midnight Purple II R34 came in under Show or Display.

R33 LM BT2 or championship blue. I am more of a red guy, but I really like this blue. It could have also been called Calsonic Blue. 

Kenmeri and Hakosuka. The Hakosuka is a S20, or GT-R. Very early car. Most people say there are 1971's but this car is a 1970.

Thanks for posting this Luke.   We have some fun with the following two pictures. There are so many people out there in the world, that think the only Skyline that ever existed was a silver/blue R34 GT-R in Fast and Furious 2. They have no idea that R32/R33/R34 are all a very similar car, all with RB26, all wheel drive, and 4 wheel steering.

Nissan Skyline GT-R Buyers Guide 1957-2002

KPG10(clone), R32, R33, R33 GT-R's

The Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of those iconic cars, because it was never really(other than in limited numbers) sold outside of Japan. Its something that a lot of people have seen on videos, played in video games, and seen in magazines. Now that the "modern" Nissan Skyline GT-R, the 1989 R32 turns 25 years old in 2014, we will probably see a few more of them here in the on the roads. However California still requires smog on anything newer than 1976(direct import cars 1975 or newer need FTP, 1968 to 1974 need to meet EPA requirements). I have been working on the modern cars(R32,R33,R34) since 1999, and done a few things with them. I will try and make a guide of what to look for, and some of the differences in the cars.  It might all not make much sense right now, but it will eventually. I have a Buyers Guide for the R35 GT-R that I keep updated. Its one of the most popular posts on 2009gtr.com. It also actually helps me as a reference.

1957 ALSID-1 Prince Skyline

The first "Skyline" was actually a Prince Skyline the ALSID-1 that debuted in April 1957. Nissan and Prince merged in 1966, with the first Nissan Skyline GT-R debuting in 1969.

PGC10 aka Hakosuka

The Hakosuka or "Box Skyline" had the 2.0 liter, 160 horsepower DOHC, S20 engine.  The PGC10 showed up in 1969. A total of 539 cars were sold. In 1970 293 cars were sold.

Its much more likely that you will come across a "GT-R clone"

KPGC10

KPGC10 Clone in the US

The KPCG10 was the 2 door version of the PGC10. In 1971 the KPGC10 hit the roads with 682 sold. 1972 had a total of 515 cars sold.
