Big Bird 2 Updates : Gathering Parts : Doing the Multi Car Shuffle : Twin Turbos for RB engines

The world is a weird place right now, however there is still work to do, cars to build. We will reach the other side, by getting there.

Since we have been working on the Nissan Skyline GT-R for 20 years, we have gathered a lot of parts over the years.  We have been importing 25 year old cars since 2014, and that has also allowed us access to a ton of cars and parts.  Here are some of the parts that are going to go on Big Bird 2. The general idea is RB30, twin undermanifold turbos, nitrous, OS88 transmission. It should make good power off the bottle, and much more on it.

Throttle refresh set from Reimax
Reimax is/was Reinik, the guys responsible for the Group A R32 GT-R engines. They have some very unique engine parts.  The throttle refresh set was something we bought many years ago, seems like a good thing to add to a car, we are going to turn some boost onto.

To Bosch 044 fuel pumps, hard lines and a surge tank. Plus nitrous collector

Do You Like Nitrous? Direct Port Install on R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R

This was a Sport Compact Car Magazine cover
This article from Turbo Magazine was originally from September, 2001. Way back when, nitrous for an R33 sounded like a good idea.  With the stock engine, some 2530's the car was 440 horsepower at the wheels.  Once we added direct port nitrous, it did over 650 horsepower at the wheels, even on a pretty small shot. The stock engine held up to several 10 and 11 second passes. The twin plate clutch got a little unhappy at one point. One of the 2530's gave up on the 10.7@137 mph pass. Broke a piston out in Arizona on the 2540's messing around with the tune.

Check out the install article.
Adding nitrous to the already potent Nissan Skyline GT-R may seem like overkill to many. Where we come from if there is a way you can make more power you take it. Our test subject has an enviable racing history. It was modified for Pike's Peak competition and was the Showroom Class winner in 1999. After Pike's Peak, Sean Morris of MotoRex had the motor "tweaked" to where it was putting out around 444 horsepower at the rear wheels. He intends to have this car set up to compete in import drag racing. We decided to follow the installation of a Nitrous Oxide Systems kit on this car to better illustrate the installation steps touched on in the preceding Basic Tech article.
The installation was performed at the So-Cal Speed Shop in Pomona, Calif., builders of world-famous street rods, custom cars, strip cars, track cars, lakes cars and custom engines.

Croydon Wholesalers Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 Nitrous Issue

I like nitrous. Fun stuff. Makes fast cars go faster. Makes slow cars go faster. The first time I used it on a car, made it seem like someone added an extra turbo to the mix. Its also a little on the dangerous side.In this picture, the Croydon Wholesalers R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R just had a nitrous issue. From what I heard, the linelock button was next to the nitrous button, and instead of linelock, the engine got a large spray of nitrous and fuel at idle, causing what we call combustion. This happened on the wrong side of the throttle blades, and hurt a lot of parts.

This car did get reparied and went 8.55@165 on DOT tires in Australia. Making it one of the quickest Nissan Skyline GT-R's in the world.
