Source Interlink Files Chapter 11
Source Interlink is filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Source Interlink publishes numerous automotive titles, including , Motor Trend , Hot Rod , Modified , Import Tuner, Super Street.
The publishing industry is hurting, and carmakers are hurting — so it’s not a great time to be publishing magazines about cars. That helps explain why Source Interlink, the media company that publishes Motor Trend and Hot Rod magazines, is taking a pit stop in bankruptcy protection.
Under a reorganization plan that lenders have already agreed to, the company said it expects to eliminate $1 billion in debt and be out of bankruptcy protection in 35 days. That wouldn’t be a land speed record, but it is still remarkably fast for a billion-dollar-plus Chapter 11 case.

MISCHIEF 7 JOYRIDE TRAILER
This is our first movie trailer for "Mischief: Joy Ride". This movie will be the seventh installment of the best selling "Mischief" street racing series created by Dustin Worles.
Description (not the final): The Mischief Crew are invited to compete in the 2007 Joy Ride Rally. A high-end rally, similar to the famous Gumball 3000, that takes 60 exotics from Santa Monica, California and to New Orleans, LA. The six day rally travels through Scottsdale, Las Cruces, Austin, and Houston. The Mischief Crew shows up in their rally-battered Porsche 996 and new Lamborghini Murcielago.
With exotics driving at speeds of up to 205mph on public highways, police are put on full alert across the country and some participants pay the price for ignoring the posted speed limits. By the rally's end, most participants drop out but the Mischief Crew continues on the run and tries their best from not getting arrested.
"Mischief: Joy Ride" will also feature Dado drifting his turbo M3 in Michigan, the 2006 French Quarter Classic Ferrari event, several other car drives, the 2007 Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, the 2007 Sema show, the 2007 Palm Beach Supercar Weekend, and the 2007 Cavallino Classic Concorso d'Eleganza car show. The usually crazy car stunts and skits that makes "Mischief" so popular will not be left out!
This 90+min movie was shot in HD and will be available in surround sound and on Blu-ray. "Mischief: Joy Ride" is scheduled be completed in SUMMER 2008. This will be the best "Mischief" yet! More info at Mischief.tv.

Even Though Its Dead : Nissan Silvia/ 200SX S16 Details
Nissan halted plans for the small sports car, but Car Magazine came up with some details on it.
So what do we now know about the cancelled car?
We've been told that a meeting was held in the US to set the final specifications in April 2008. ‘We set on a front-engined, rear-wheel drive two-seater with a limited slip differential and dimensions very similar to the Mazda MX-5 – it was 4.1 metres long,' said our source. 'The engine was going to be a 1.6-litre turbo producing approximately 185bhp [the last-generation S15 – never officially imported to the UK – boasted 2.0-litres and nearly 250bhp] with a weight of around 1200kg. It would have been a lot of fun.’
Sadly, Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn canned the project in November last year, choosing instead to focus on high-volume small and medium-sized cars.
Maybe in the future ?

Nissan Skyline GTR vs Ford Sierra RS500
This race was the last Group A event for the Nissan Skyline GTR and Ford Sierra RS500 in Australia, supporting the 1992 Australian Grand Prix meeting in Adelaide. With more than 500bhp these were ‘proper’ touring cars and the racing was epic.

SACRAMENTO - The Air Resources Board last month fined Nissan
Motor Company $4.4 million for failing to meet requirements
concerning the diagnostic equipment that monitors tailpipe
emissions on most of its 2005-2007 models - more than 450,000
vehicles.
On-board diagnostic systems are incorporated into vehicle
computers to ensure tailpipe emissions stay at permissible
levels. If a problem is detected, the system turns on a "check
engine" light to alert the driver.
The ARB discovered Nissan's problems in 2007 during a routine
compliance review. The problems concerned inadequate monitoring
of engine sensors that govern proper fuel system operation and
whether monitoring takes place as frequently as required.
"California advanced the goal of clean air by pioneering the
development and use of the on-board diagnostic system to make
sure drivers know when their emissions equipment malfunctions,"
said ARB Chairman Mary D. Nichols. "We consider it to be a vital
tool not only for consumers, but for all of us who want to
breathe clean air..

are confident that the design process changes they implemented

Nissan's settlement with the ARB requires it to pay $3 million
to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides
funding for projects and research to improve California's air
quality. It must also pay $1.2 million to the Environmental
Education Initiative and $200,000 to the National OBD
Clearinghouse.
California has the nation's poorest air quality. Excess vehicle
emissions can cause or exacerbate a host of respiratory and
cardiac conditions and pose a danger to public health.
The Air Resources Board is a department of the California
Environmental Protection Agency. ARB's mission is to promote and
protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through
effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and
considering effects on the economy. The ARB oversees all air
pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain
health based air quality standards.

Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 N1 : Super Taikyu , World Challenge Car For Sale
The Automotiveforums.com R34 GT-R is for Sale.
This is the first and only Nissan Skyline GT-R to have been raced in the United States in a professional road-race series. Back in 2006, the AutomotiveForums.com Race Team competed in Speed World Challenge GT across the country against Dodge Viper Competition Coupes, Tube-frame Chevrolet Corvettes, modified Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, and even Aston Martin DBRS9s. With the field sporting around 560whp, we struggled to compete with a package that intially only delivered about 450whp. By the end of the season though, our car was on par in horsepower with over 580hp to the wheels.Links to some photo albums of the car.
Automotiveforums 2004-2006
The car was originally raced in the Japanese Super Taikyu series, built by NISMO. Only about 12 were built, and who knows how many remain. However, the spec in the Super Taikyu series was rather low for World Challenge GT, so in 2005 we proceeded to upgrade the GT-R. All bodywork was changed to carbon/fiberglass to lose weight, the transmission changed to a Holinger 6-speed sequential, a triple plate carbon clutch was custom-made by Tilton to ensure successful standing-start launches. All windows were changed to Lexan. In all, we were able to trim the weight of the GT-R down to under 3050 lbs dry - over 200 lbs shaved off the Super Taikyu-spec. Note that this is a weight that an R35 GT-R could never be in an AWD trim.
To run the 305-width rubber on the car, Rays Engineering/Mackin Industries were kind enough to custom make light-weight 18x11J width Volk TE37s in Japan specifically for this project.
In 2005 testing, we quickly learned that the stresses applied to the car on 305/35/18 Toyo Proxes RA1 tires were severely more than the Super Taikyu-spec 250-width slicks, prompting us to find solutions to hub/bearing failures. Mr. Tetsuo Suzuki, the crew chief of the Nurburgring 24-hr Falken GT-R team was introduced to us by NISMO to help us find solutions. The Nur GT-R also had similar problems as it used 290-width slicks, so we followed their suit and upgraded the hubs to those used on the Nissan Cima luxury vehicle.
To comply with World Challenge GT safety regulations, we installed a custom NASCAR-style cage in addition to the FIA-certified cage that was in place from the car's time in Japan.
This is a true one-of-a-kind Nissan Skyline GT-R racecar.
An extensive spare package including a whole spare chassis is available.
EPA and DOT exemptions for off-road use for both chassis.

Attack the Time WRX . Laying it Down in a Big Way
Watch out Redline and Super Lap. Mike - Sigma Pi dropped his WRX off at RB to have a little work done while he was in Japan. He was very specific on the modifcations that he wanted. After hours and hours of work and the assistance of Franco, about $130 worth of Autozone and Kragen parts made it onto the car.

2010 Nissan GT-R Laps Nurburgring in 7:18 !!!
The 2010 Nissan GT-R is currently at Nurburgring with the Spec V for more testing and lap times. Nissan has done several improvements for 2010 and they have picked up quiet a bit of time. 11 seconds under their previous best. I wonder what the Spec V will run ?
