Nissan Stagea 260RS for sale at Toprank Importers

The Nissan Stagea WGNC34 Autech 260RS is sort of a hodgepodge of different Nissan parts. One of the areas that its a little different is the rear suspension/coil overs. This is a place you have to be really careful with the wheel size and offset, as the coil overs are more vertical than on the R32 to R34 GT-R.

Victor got a little too aggressive with his rear offset, and needed to borrow an Ohlins

The rear coilovers/shocks use an R33/R34 lower and an R32 GT-R spaced upper. We found this out one day when loaning some Ohlins to Victor. We didn't have any specific Stagea suspension in stock, so we ended up "making" a set that would bolt on and let the car roll around.

Nissan Autech Stagea 260RS : The R33 GT-R in Wagon Clothes : #gtrhunter

This Nissan Stagea 260RS came in around the beginning of the year. When it arrived, the boost was fairly high, so I wound it down. It was also audibly knocking under boost. Checked timing and backed it down to 20 deg BTDC as a RB26 should be at idle. However it seems the damage may have already been done. I took the car to a couple of things and on the way into K1 Speed, it started smoking heavily.

Cypress, we have a problem. #6 cylinder has had a bad day.

That would be considered an issue. Tow it back to the shop. Eventually get it apart, find the torched #6. The headgasket failing is actually prefered to some other parts of the engine failing. If the headgasket holds, then the piston, rod, or something else breaks. Obviously it would be best to never torch any of those parts, but ....

Back together. Test fitting the LMGT1 18 x 10 +20

The plan was just a fairly basic twin turbo setup. I ordered a set of N1 turbos from ATP, which eventually actually ended up on Brians car. They aren't a big turbo, about the smallest bolt on upgrade.

-Wheel: 53.85mm w/ 62 trim

-Housing: .64 ar

Compressor

-Wheel: 60mm w/ 55 trim

-Housing: .42 ar (2 bolt inlet and 2 bolt outlet)

310 hp capable each turbo (in real life about 450 whp at about 1.6 bar)

18 x 10 +20 with Ohlins DFV. 265/35/18 tires

Rear fit nice

Front don't fit as well as the rear.

The Nismo LMGT1 18 x 10 +20 with 265/35/18 fit pretty good. The rear are great. The front don't fit as well. The Ikeya Formula front upper control arms will help pull the front in. Normally I want to push the lower out, but in this case, I don't have the fender to make that happen.

Did you know that the first GT-R were 4 doors? This Autech version of the R33 Sedan is one of 416 built. It is a January 1998 car, and eligible for import to the US in January 2023.

40th anniversary Autech R33 GT-R for sale at Toprank

The Autech R33 was exhibited at the 32nd Tokyo Motor Show in 1997 with the concept of "Sports sedan of highest performance for grown-ups" and released in 1998. It shared the body with 4-door Skyline R33 but rear doors and rear fender were newly designed only for this model to replicate blister fender of 2-door GT-R.

The exterior with smaller front spoiler and no rear spoiler created placid atmosphere. The interior for 4 passengers with bucket type rear seats was also unique. It was the first 4-door Skyline GT-R since "2000GT-R (PGC10)" released in 1969, and got favorable reviews.

Nissan to establish new vehicle customization and motorsports company

Nismo 400R imported to the US by Toprank Importers

This is an interesting story. Both Nismo and Autech were part of/ under Nissans umbrella, but here they are formally combining to a single company. Not sure exactly what this means for the future, but here is the press release. Cars like the 400R, and Z-Tune came complete from Nismo, and from Autech we got the 4 door R32, RB26 NA, the Stagea 260RS, and others.

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced today plans to establish a new company through the integration of two affiliated companies, Autech Japan Inc. (Autech) and Nissan Motorsports International Co. Ltd. (NISMO). The new company is to be established on April 1, 2022.

The integration is aimed to better globally utilize Autech's know-how in developing and manufacturing customized vehicles and NISMO’s brand power built up through motorsports. Positioned as an important strategic subsidiary, the new company is expected to contribute to Nissan’s sustainable growth.

Nissan aims to deliver a variety of exciting cars, provide experiences that better connect people and society, and to expand　the possibilities of mobility.

Nissan Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta said: “Autech, with its wide range of expertise, is a pioneer of customized vehicles. NISMO, through motorsports and enhanced driving pleasure, is a symbol of the spirit of challenge in Nissan cars. We are confident that the integration of these two companies will bring us even closer to the pinnacle of exciting mobility we are aiming for.”

The cool part about the Autech R33 sedan is that it is full R33 GT-R drivetrain, under the 4 door body. Like the Stagea 260RS wagon, also built by Autech, this four door can be anything from a mild driver, to a crazy build. Billet blocks, sequential transmissions, big single turbos, in a four door, sure. Or if you prefer, keep it stock and 280ps.

Four Door Autech R33 GT-R 40th Anniversary

R33's are not my favorite of the GT-R's, and four doors are always weird, but this yellow, Autech R33, with 400R parts looks pretty good. Yellow with white wheels, kind of a reverse egg yolk. This car is a 1998, so still a long way from coming to the US. RB26 powered, all wheel drive. 5 speed manual transmission. Supposedly there were 405 of these 40th anniversary cars made in 1997 and 1998.
