R32 Nissan Skyline Jack Points - Jacking Points - Lift Points

Huge transmission, or tiny jack?

When done wrong, this small thing can cause a lot of issues.  Most service jacks that you find, have a flat jack pad. This jack pad gives you lots of options for a car with a full frame, but for a car like a Nissan Skyline, that is a unibody, you have to be a little more careful where you jack.

2 Post Lift, or Floor Rack

Hydraulic Jack

Most people won't have a jack long enough to hit either of those two lifting points.  They are a significant way under the car.   We have lifted from the tow hook, which won't lift evenly, but is pretty easy to hit, even with a lowered car.   We have also lifted from the front of the tension rod for the front.   At the rear, just under the differential is pretty easy to hit, and will lift the car evenly.

Nissan Skyline Insurance : JDM Vehicle Insurance

This question pops up about one to two times a day on the Facebook Skyline groups.  Insurance is required in  many/most areas to be able to legally drive your vehicle on the roads.

The issues that people normally run into are that the Nissan Skyline has a short VIN or chassis number that does not conform to US FMVSS standards from 1981 up.  However these vehicles, that are over 25 years old, are FMVSS exempt.  So like vehicles older than 1981, it is possible to enter and get a quote.

Insurance itself is tied to many factors, so the actual numbers of what people pay, are pretty much irrelevant.  For everyone person that has State Farm, Progressive, or Geico, there are two others that got denied.

This poll was posted in one group.  As you can see the majority of owners were covered by USAA. Many ex-military in the owners groups.

RB26DETT Timing Belt Tensioner Failure

All the balls are on the left side.

Sean Kirby, aka the other Sean, or am I the other Sean, either way, posted these pictures of a tensioner bearing failure.   He says that this is most likely the original timing belt.  The belt, tensioner, idler, and spring should be replaced every 60,000 miles.  If you don't know if it has been replaced, with certainty, replace it. Always a good idea to do the water pump at the same time, as it is behind the timing belt.
