Another day, another quick time.  R32's in Australia are in full on battle mode.  Who is going to be the first into the 6's?  Is it possible in a R32 chassis? Aero is going to be a big factor.  Both the Heat Treatments, and RIPS R32 both have aero fronts, with water/air intercoolers.

7.01 @ 209 mph : Extreme Turbo Systems R35 GT-R Hunts the 6's

Very slow at getting this up. Back in November, ETS did a 7.01 quarter mile pass at 209 mph. Since then they have been trying to get into the sixes. Several other cars worldwide, also trying to get there.  Today 3/2 ETS is out in Florida, hunting the elusive 6 second pass in their R35 GT-R. Well that didn't take long. EKanoo Racing runs a 7.168 @ 209 mph, and then the Diamonds By Wire Alpha G fires back with a 7.145 @212 mph pass.   6's are coming. We are on the cusp of a 6 second pass, all wheel drive, and unibody.

Running 9 second passes in a street car is no joke. Running 7's is about unheard of. It would be cool to see this car come to the US, and run on the Hot Rod Drag Week.  There are some insanely fast cars on Drag Week, but for an imported car, would be something cool to see. 





What is a true street car? For Robert Marjan and the boys from Croydon Racing Developments the car had to be full weight with full interior, run on radials, have a full exhaust to the back and run on fuel available from the pump. All while being able to be driven on the street. Ticking of each of these things makes the time of 7.89@187mph even more impressive.

7.48 @189 mph. RIPS R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R Gets Into the 40's

The quickest and fastest Nissan Skyline GT-R in the world has been the Heat Treatments R32 GT-R.  March of 2013, Heat Treatments and Reece McGregor went 7.41@193 mph.   Since 2007, when Heat Treatments beat the HKS R33 GT-R, it has been the top dog.  The HKS car held the top spot for nearly 5 years, but Heat Treatments brought the title to New Zealand.

The HKS R33 Drag GT-R has long been one of the most recognized symbols of the HKS global brand, and held the title to world's fastest AWD Drag car for almost five years with its remarkable 7.671 second
pass at Japan's Sendai circuit in October 2001. 

Now RIPS Racing, from New Zealand, is nibbling at the heels of the Heat Treatments car.  Yesterday, they went 7.48@189 mph in their RB30 powered, powerglide equipped R32. Check out some of the videos, several views below.

7.48 @ 189mph. Man I can't wait to get some decent sized tyres on this thing so we can hit it harder off the line

Finally into the 7.4s. Done on 26 x 10in tyres, E85 fuel at 1300kg with a pretty gentle 60ft of 1.23. Can't wait to see what we can do with 28in tyres, methanol, a decent turbo and some weight out of the car. Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us this season, we've had a blast!!!

The Heat Treatments car hasn't been real active, as they were only pushing their own record down. Now they have  another New Zealand car close to their record. RIPS sounds like they might want to push the car into the 6 second range all wheel drive. 7.48 isn't bad on the tracks in New Zealand. The prep is not as good as the prep in some other countries. So if this car travels, even in the current setup, who knows how fast it might go.

RIPS Racing in New Zealand, has set a personal best in their drag car, MGAWOT III.  The RB30 powered, and powerglide equipped R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R went 7.64 @ 182 mph. The car is moving. They see the 7.41 of the fastest GT-R in the world - Heat Treatments R32 GT-R in their sights. Rain seems to have cut the event short.

 Lets put in a soft tune just to get a qualifying number on the board. BOOM 7.64 @ 182 like it was on rails. The changes we've made to other areas of the car are obviously working well to get a pb with the power we had in it. Then the rain came.

RIPS MGAWOT III - 7.78 @ 178 MPH

Robbie from RIPS in New Zealand just got his first 7 second pass in the MGAWOT III. 178 mph shows its making some power. A 1.26 60 is good, but the Heat Treatments R32 sees some 1.1 - 1.0 60 foots.  Every tenth of a second normally translates to about 0.2 at the big end.

Great day after all. It rained 2 or 3 times but we got out 4 times. 7.80, 7.86, 7.78, 7.80 all at 180-181mph. Happy team all things considered. We need some fresh tyres then we can try to wind it up some more.

7.663 @ 184 mph R32 GT-R from the Ukraine

This is pretty nuts. 7.663@184 mph R32 GT-R from TopSpeed Ukraine. He gets pretty crossed up going down the track, and at the end. I am a little suspect of the numbers, because the car spun a lot, mph is decent, but not huge for that ET.  The 60 foot on the slip says 2.45, which makes even less sense. Maybe the 60 foot includes the reaction time? Japan does some wacky stuff adding in reaction time to the ET.   No doubt the car is fast. They need to get it on a real dragstrip.

Heat Treatments Nissan Skyline GT-R Goes 7.41@193

The Heat Treatments R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R is in Australia, and set a new personal best, and new record.  They ran a 7.45 and a 7.41 at a huge 193 mph.
Check out the video below. They said they were going to start running the 350Z if they went 7.4 in the R32, but hopefully they keep running it. 6's and 200 mph would be cool to see in the old R32.

Reece Mcgregor has today reset his own world record for the quickest 4wd powered car in the world. The team have been working extremely hard for many years to break out of the 7.5 (pb 7.53) zone and today, absolutely smashed it, firstly with a 7.45 @ 193, followed by the record setting 7.41 @ 193 mph. 

Big congratulations on a lot of hard work which eventually paid off. The team planned to release their Nissan 350z drag car once the car broke into the 7.4s, and we'll be waiting patiently for their next move.
