Started the year off on the east coast. I spent New Years in Washington,DC with the Mischief guys. The day I got home, my 240 got shortened by a Suburban. I went to the NHRA museum in Pomona, CA.Went and saw the FNF4 garage. Supaca Imports came and went. Some R34 GT-R's and S15 got seized. Watched some cars drag racing at Fontana. Gas was only 2.99 per gallon .The Gucci Cadillac was waiting for Bdubb. He eventually bought it and we drove it to Chicago.
Started on the trip planning to Chicago in the Gucci Caddy. Loading up the Caddy in MDR. It was cold on the trip. This says 16 F. Just after that, we hit a retread on the freeway, which pushed the torque converter cover into the torque converter. It sounded bad, but a few minutes later in the freezing cold it was off. We made it to Chicago in the Gucci Caddy. No problems. No tickets, not even a second look. We didn't even have license plates on the car. Another idiot - the Skyline King. They never go away, new ones just pop up. D1 cancels its 2008 series in the US ? Go karting at Kart Factory, which from reports is closed now. Its location was a little out of the way and hidden.
Worked on the car lot at Inland Wholesale Auto Center, Bloomington ,CA. Supaca came back with more, and more. I went and tried to visit them in their "office". Then Drift Tuners from Canada decided to be idiots too. Import cars regardless if they are legal or not. The Jspec Connect R35 GT-R went on the dyno. Josh's R33 GT-R was in a movie - Street Racers. Diesel got expensive 4.39 a gallon. Saw a Bugatti Veryon in the parking garage at the building. R32,R33,R34,R35 GT-R's went to HIN LA. A GT-R got stolen from a car dealer in Canada and was recovered by the interweb. Cleaned up a garage. Bdubb had a party with a hot dog cart.
Washington lawmakers are drafting a large economic stimulus package to help create jobs and rebuild infrastructure. They want to include a nationwide scrappage program which would give U.S. tax dollars to consumers who turn-in older cars to have them crushed, as a misguided attempt to spur new car sales. The lawmakers need to scrap this idea.
The stimulus package is being drafted right now. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wants to introduce the bill on January 6 and have it approved by Congress by January 20, so that President Obama can sign it into law after he is inaugurated.
Contact House Speaker Nancy Pelosi IMMEDIATELY To Oppose Cash for Clunkers! Call: 202-225-0100 Click here to send an electronic message: http://speaker.house.gov/contact/
Talking Points Feel free to use any of the statements below as a starting point for your message to Speaker Pelosi.
* I am [calling/writing] to urge lawmakers not to include a “Cash for Clunkers” provision in the economic stimulus bill. Owners who turn in vehicles for crushing would receive a "minimal" payment to purchase a new car. This is a misguided attempt to spur car sales and claim that the country’s air quality or fleet fuel mileage is being improved.
* I work for [company name] located in [city and state]. My company is part of the specialty automotive industry, an industry which enables consumers to enhance their vehicle’s appearance, performance, comfort, convenience and safety. “Cash for Clunkers” programs deny our small businesses the availability of older cars necessary to develop and market their products and services. The programs will hurt my company and our customers.
* “Cash for Clunkers” programs threaten enthusiasts nationwide with the loss of valuable parts and parts-cars for repair, restoration, and customization projects. The programs also risk destroying classic, historic and special-interest vehicles, our American heritage.
* Cars turned in for scrappage often barely run, or are rarely-driven second or third vehicles that have a minimal impact on overall fuel economy or emissions.
* “Cash for Clunkers” programs will reduce the availability of affordable transportation and repair parts used by low-income drivers. It will also compete with the Salvation Army, the Purple Heart and other charities that rely on vehicle donations to raise money.
* “Cash for Clunkers” ignores better policy options. If Congress wants to act, support for repair and upgrade is a better choice and a win-win for consumers, dealers, manufacturers and repair shops. Significant emissions and fuel economy improvements can be achieved in older vehicles through relatively simple and inexpensive means: repaired/replaced exhaust systems, tune-ups, etc.
* We hope we can count on you to reject “Cash for Clunkers.” Thank you for your consideration on this very important matter.

For all my friends out there, that have a medical condition, or want some nice turbocharger glass art. I found this over on the TigerLife Blog.
“I started out making this for fun, then I posted it on dsmtuners, Honda tech and the srt forums. I got alot of positive feedback and sold about 20 of them. I can make them as just paper weights or “function art” if you get my drift.
I am selling them for $60 shipped. Sent money via paypal to imeyer85@yahoo.com. Please include if you want the “functional art” version or the normal (paper weight one), your forum name, and what forum you are from. Thanks Ian
Some nice glass art. I know some of the turbo fans out there, have that prescription for legal weed. Here in California its turning into a fairly big industry.
A dozen Nissan R35 GT-R's made it out to the track day today at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Buttonwillow, CA. It was a fun day for all. We had a lot of laughs and a good time. No major offs. No major issues. No broken transmissions. At least a couple cars under 2 minutes. I took a few pictures with the point and shoot. I also took some videos outside, and inside John from JIC/Ziel Motorsports R35 GT-R. I was hand holding the camera, so the video will probably make you sick. Its was a fairly intense ride trying to hold the camera, and hold on.
It was chilly in the morning. I saw the temperature as low as 31 degrees on my trip up. Over the grapvine at around 4000 feet there was still a little snow on the mountains.
You Tube , harbor for internet mechanics and vehicle identifiers.
I put up a video of Essexs car a couple years ago.Its a 1000hp at the wheels car. XS took the front driveshaft out of it, to make it rear wheel drive. All wheel drive cars, big power all wheel drive cars on a dyno are a little sketchy. They move around a lot,you have to be careful. Just about one in ten people sees this video and says "thats not a GT-R, its a GTS, its rear wheel drive." Overall, doesn't really matter. The car laid down over 1000hp to the wheels, but it just irks me a little bit. Maybe more than a little bit.
400 hp Eagle Talon breaking a strap and coming off the dyno
A few more cars coming off the dyno. Another reason I like the Dynapack dyno. Take the wheels off and get them out of the way. They are quieter, and they stow nicely in the corner when you aren't using them. 1000hp car comes off the dyno. This one is pretty crazy. That block did about nothing to stop the forward progress of this car.
JUN's modifications to the RB26 cooling system in order to help vent bubbles from the high side of the engine. The RB26 is tilted and the high side of the engine has a tendency to trap air. This is the fairly complicated way to help remove the air from the high side. This setup requires a single throttle body, as they drill and tap the cylinder head to relieve water direct from the head.
The top bolt hole is the only issue with some blocks. If you have a N1 block , then you will not have to worry about this top elongated hole. If you have a stock block, you will need to see if this intrudes into the water jacket. Several people have installed a N1 water pump, and then had water weeping from this hole. Check it, fill it if you want to be sure. I have used epoxy and a straw to fill it in. You could weld it up if you want, although be careful with warping.
These pictures show the differences in the impeller design between the standard water pump and the N1 water pump. The N1 pump has a backing plate that helps reduce high rpm cavitation.
These are the quickest Nissan Skyline GT-R’s that I know of in the US. Apexi’s R33 ran 8.47@165 , Signals R33 has run into the 8’s, a few other Japanese demo GT-Rs have made passes, but they are not included in this list.
Samurai Speeds R35 GT-R is the quickest GT-R in the World setting a 10.55@128 mph and 10.53@128 mph pass with over 100 LC launches. In this video, the transmission lets go. They seem to have found the limit.
* Believe it or not, I'm not all that upset about it. We knew we were going to have to upgrade it eventually, so now it will just happen sooner rather than later.
Now they have the chance to upgrade the transmission
This is a very clean R32 with low miles, and has been well cared for. This is a Motorex legal GT-R, with U.S. substitute VIN., bond release ect. It has been cleared to list on here through eBay. The VIN# is : BNR32-218918, so you can have it verified by the DOT. They can be reached at 202-366-5291
Some of the best moments were getting a 9.7 in Ludders full weight R34 GTR street car on its very first pass, getting the world record for full street 240z with an 8.71 @ 162mph, building the worlds first RB33 and topping 1200hp/9000rpm with a fully water cooled RB street engine using a stock RB30 block, crank and cradle at just 1.8 bar
In Australia yesterday Godzilla Motorsports tuned R34 GT-R "RH9" set a horsepower record under competition conditions for RB26's in Australia
In the "Power Championship" at Autosalon final battle in Sydney today the car made a staggering 911 AWKW on its first run then backed up that figure and made another 20AWKW more...YES 931 AWKW!!!
The car was run with the factory ATTESSA to control torque split and i viewed the data with Todd from Mainline after the runs and it had a 65% rear 35% front split...no games here.
Stock block, stock crank. 2.6 liter. GT47-88 turbo. Big boost, but they say they have 5 more PSI in the bag. The intercooler end tank split on the last run.

A quick and dirty guide on a couple of the “no replacement for displacement” adages. OS Giken has a couple of kits they sell. Nissan has an RB30 block. HKS has a special High Deck block.
OS Giken RB30 – A spacer plate, open deck block 86 mm bore and stroke work out to 2996 cc. The picture to the left is interesting. Twin T78’s on an RB30.
OS Giken RB31 – This picture is actually of the RB30 kit, however it is the same kit with a longer stroke. More or less the same. Not exactly the same.
Nissan RB30 - The Nissan RB30. The “taxi” block. There is no replacement for displacement, and on the cheap, this is the way many people go. It requires a modified oil pan pickup, and an adaptor to bolt up to the RB26 all wheel drive oil pan.

HKS High Deck 2.8 – The elusive HKS “high deck” block. It appears to be only a sleeved and deck plated block. They probably run a long rod in it to make some more torque. This was supposedly the block in the 7 second HKS Drag R33. There are a couple guys in the UK running it, and a few of the more serious drag GT-R’s in Japan.
The Nissan Skyline was not originally manufactured to comply with all applicable FMVSS. Such a vehicle that is less than 25 years old can only be lawfully imported into the U.S. if (1) it is determined eligible for importation by NHTSA and (2) it is imported by an RI or by a person who has a contract with an RI to bring the vehicle into compliance with all applicable FMVSS within 120 days of entry. Import eligibility decisions are made on a make, model, and model year basis. NHTSA has determined that the R33 Model Nissan GTS and GTR ("Skyline") passenger cars manufactured between January 1, 1996 and June 30, 1998 are eligible for importation and has assigned vehicle eligibility number VCP-32 to those vehicles. (The import eligibility number is to be entered on the HS-7 Declaration form that is to be given to Customs at the time of entry, and alerts Customs that the vehicle may be lawfully imported by an RI or by a person who has a contract with an RI, even though the vehicle is not certified by its manufacturer as complying with all applicable FMVSS.) To learn the modifications the petitioner stated were needed to conform Nissan Skyline vehicles to the FMVSS, you should go to the DOT Docket website at http://dms.dot.gov and enter docket number 5507 in the appropriate block on the simple search screen. You should note that the petition sought import eligibility for 1990-1999 Nissan GTS and GTR "Skyline" passenger cars. After granting the petition, the agency learned that the modifications identified in the petition were not sufficient to conform certain model and model year vehicles that were covered by the petition. The agency therefore partially rescinded its grant of eligibility, leaving only R33 model Nissan GTS and GTR passenger cars manufactured between January 1, 1996 and June 30, 1998 eligible for importation.
A list of RIs can be found on our website at http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import. You should consult the importers on that list to see whether any are willing to conform the vehicle that you seek to import to all applicable safety and bumper standards, and if so, what they would charge for that work.
If you decide to import the vehicle, one potential complicating factor is that the RI who petitioned NHTSA to determine the Nissan Skyline eligible for importation requested, and was granted, confidentiality with respect to the modifications needed to conform to the vehicle to certain of the standards. As a consequence, that importer (J.K. Technologies, LLC of Baltimore, Maryland) has claimed a proprietary interest in the modifications covered by the confidentiality grant. This does not preclude other RIs from attempting to modify the vehicle. However, should those importers not gain access to the modifications covered by the grant confidentiality, they will have to demonstrate to the agency, at the time they submit a conformity certification package for a Skyline, that they have made equivalent modifications that permit the vehicle to comply with the standards covered by the confidentiality grant.
Please note that we determined the vehicle eligible for importation based on its capability of being modified to comply with all applicable standards. We did not approve J.K. Technologies, LLC as the "exclusive" importer of the vehicle. As previously indicated, any other RI is free to import the vehicle, but will have to demonstrate in the conformity package submitted to the agency to obtain release of the conformance bond furnished at the time of importation that the vehicle has been brought into conformity with all applicable standards, including those covered by the grant of confidentiality to J.K. Technologies, LLC.
You should note that if you were to import the vehicle, the necessary modifications would have to be made by an RI, and that importer would have to certify to us that the vehicle conforms to all applicable FMVSS in effect on its date of manufacture before the vehicle could be released to be licensed or registered for on-road use. One of the reasons that an RI is required to import and modify a vehicle that was not originally manufactured to comply with all applicable FMVSS is because the RI stands in the stead of the vehicle’s original manufacturer to provide the vehicle’s owner with notification and remedy in the event that the vehicle is determined to contain a safety-related defect or a noncompliance with an applicable safety standard. Because the original manufacturer would not be responsible for the vehicle being in the U.S., it would have no legal obligation to perform this import safety responsibility.
Questions regarding modifications to conform the vehicle to applicable emissions standards should be directed to the EPA.
Make no bones about it ... D1 Grand Prix is back in the USA!!! As the founder and premier drift racing sanctioning body globally, D1 Grand Prix (www.d1gp.com) is releasing the critical news the industry has been waiting for including: the 2009 U.S. racing schedule, locations, track design and upcoming media tour.
D1GP USA made its first announcement regarding their return to U.S. soil just prior to the 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Since then, D1GP USA has been developing a new racing format and is excited to announce its 2009 racing schedule with four unique locations across the United States and an aggressive and high impact new track design.
2009 D1 Grand Prix USA Schedule
-- Anaheim Stadium, Anaheim, California - May 2nd -- Dolphins Stadium, Miami, Florida - May 30th -- Wachovia Spectrum, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - July 18th -- Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois - August 1st
"With our new management team in place, we decided to focus all of our initial efforts on two main objectives. The first was to make the events more appealing and accessible to local, out of town and new entry level fans. The second was to deliver a new high impact state-of-the-art racing experience that will define the future of drift racing in the United States," said Rich Goodwin, President of D1USA. "In order to achieve these objectives we had to think outside the box. By moving the events to these centrally located venues allows for us to achieve our objective of making the events more appealing and accessible to fans, along with mainstream local media. In addition, the wide open spaces these venues offer also allow us to build in our aggressive new track design and to add in other exciting entertainment on and off the track."
D1 Dojo
Dubbed the D1 Dojo, the new aggressive track design is more than a race track, it's a drifting entertainment experience that puts the show goer trackside for an up close and personal experience like never before. The track layout will be dynamic incorporating a bull ring-style with multiple entry and exit points and numerous turns. The racing will be heart pounding as in the distance fans will hear the faint roar of the engines as they ramp up from behind the Dojo before attacking the entry at top speed. The design allows for constant action -- as one car exits out of the Dojo from one side of the track, the next car enters simultaneously for continual racing action. During breaks the track will take on exhibitions and other racing elements to entertain the crowd and when night falls on the Elite 8, the Dojo will be transformed into a dazzling display of lighting effects that only Driven Events, made up of the original founders of Hot Import Nights could pull off.
Surrounding the Dojo will be the D1 Fan Fest which will include sponsor and exhibitor midway, stage performances, model pavilions, car show and more. D1GP USA will release more entertainment and racing information in January to coincide with the launch of the new www.d1gp.com website and media tour.
Driven Events, Inc. (D1GP USA Management)
D1GP USA is operated by Southern California based, Driven Events. The company licensed the rights to D1 Grand Prix in the United States in late 2008 and they share a long term vision with D1GP Japan. Driven Events is made up of auto industry insiders. Led by Rich Goodwin and Michael Munar, the D1GP is under complete new management. Both Goodwin and Munar were the founders of the original Hot Import Nights (HIN) started in the late 90's. They sold HIN in 2004 and Goodwin and Munar went on to separate projects, however have now reunited specifically for this project. They are partnered with Ed and Emil Arguelles, the founders of Extreme Autofest. The group has also employed many of the original HIN & Autofest team who are now working to build one of the best new racing events in the U.S.
January 2009 Media Tour
As part of D1GP USA's call to action, the new team will be conducting a media tour in January that opens up a new line of communication with the media. The goal of the tour is to simply introduce the entire D1GP USA management team to the endemic tuner publications, along with working to drive home the message that D1GP USA is here to stay. We will also be laying out more information on the strategic plans for D1GP, sponsors, drivers, venues and future plans for the business.
